Former Playboy Bunny Anna Nicole Smith dead at 39, Leaves Six-month-old Daughter and Paternity QuestionsHollywood, CA (rushprnews) 02/08/2007 — Actress/model Anna Nicole Smith is dead at 39 years old, according Seminole Police Chief Charles Tiger, after collapsing at the Seminole Hard Rock Cafe Hotel in Hollywood, Florida.
Her son Daniel Smith, 20, collapsed and died Sept. 10, 2006 of a heart-attack with drug-related complications while visiting his mother in her Bahamian hospital room shortly after she gave birth to daughter Dannielynn. Smith was hospitalized in November for pneumonia.
Smith’s daughter, now possibly in line for a massive inheritance, is being claimed by two fathers, attorney Howard K. Stern and entertainment writer Larry Birkhead.
Besides all that trauma, the former Playboy Playmate he has been challenged in court continuously regarding the millions left to her in 1995 by oil billionaire spouse, 80-year-old J. Howard Marshall. She was also just sued by a woman claiming the weight control pills Smith was hawking were not as advertised.
Smith’s unofficial husband, Stern, was present during the death of her son and denied allegations by Anna Nicole's mother that he supplied any drugs to Daniel. On September 26, 2006, he told CNN is the father of Anna Nicole's baby girl, contrary to identical claims by Birkhead. The Bahamian birth certificate of the daughter lists her name as Dannielynn Hope Marshall Stern with Howard as the father. There is no word yet on paternity proof.
“She checked in Monday at 8 p.m. as a guest. She was due to check out tomorrow,” said Danielle Giordano, a spokeswoman for Seminole Hard Rock Hotel and Casino.
Professionally, the Texas-born Smith was best known as a Playboy model and star of the “Anna Nicole Show,” as well as for various reality shows and cameos in films like “Be Cool,” and “Naked Gun 3 ½.” She recently produced and starred in a sci-fi comedy “Illegal Aliens.” Prior to her death, Smith had slimmed down to her former shape and become spokesperson for weight loss group TrimSpa.
“Entertainment Tonight” had the first newsbreak on the story and shortly thereafter, CBS had a webcast from the hospital.
