International Montblanc de la Culture Award to be Presented at Exclusive Gala -
- Wynton Marsalis, Quincy Jones, Martha Richards are U.S. Nominees -
NEW YORK, NY (rushprnews) March 26, 2007 -- Montblanc, the global luxury brand
and worldwide supporter of the arts, has become a Signature Sponsor of the
2007 Tribeca Film Festival.
The company will hold an exclusive gala evening
at the Festival to present its 15th annual Montblanc de la Culture Award,
which supports the arts in ten countries. This year's U.S. nominees for the
award are Wynton Marsalis, Quincy Jones and Martha Richards.
The new partnership between Montblanc and the Tribeca Film Festival
represents a shared vision by both organizations to support the arts and
culture. The Montblanc award evening will be a cornerstone event at the
Festival. In addition to the award winner, invited guests will include
jurors Val Kilmer, Roseanne Cash and Lee Daniels, Tribeca Film Festival
founders, celebrities, and other VIPs.
"Montblanc is excited to become a sponsor of the Tribeca Film
Festival," said Jan-Patrick Schmitz, President and CEO, Montblanc North
America. "The Festival's mission and philosophy is closely aligned with our
brand's core values -- to support the arts and artists worldwide, thus
nourishing the soul of civilization. This partnership will enable Montblanc
to share its cultural values with a large audience of avid arts patrons who
attend the Tribeca Film Festival. This year's roster of nominees and jurors
is an 'Oscar of the Arts.'"
"The Tribeca Film Festival shares Montblanc's passion for promoting the
arts and fostering cultural awareness in both local and global
communities," said Jane Rosenthal, co-founder of the Tribeca Film Festival.
"We congratulate all of the nominees for the 2007 Montblanc de la Culture
Award and look forward to welcoming this year's winner, and Montblanc, to
the Festival."
Throughout Montblanc's 100-year history, the company has been firmly
committed to the advancement and celebration of art and culture worldwide.
The Montblanc de la Culture Award is one of a number of international
initiatives undertaken by the company.
Created in 1992, the award honors patrons of the arts who have
committed their time and resources to enhance the arts and culture.
Montblanc shares the philosophy of the award nominees -- to give back to
society and to sustain the arts for future generations.
Names of award nominees are submitted by ten different countries; an
international panel of artists then votes to select a winner from each
country. Each winner will receive a monetary award to donate to an
organization of their choice, as well as a limited edition of the Montblanc
"Patron of Art" writing instrument, named for a great art and culture
advocate in history. In 2007, Montblanc unveils the Alexander von Humboldt.
This year's U.S. nominees have devoted much of their time and resources
in support of the arts:
* Wynton Marsalis is co-founder of the Jazz Education Program at Lincoln
Center, designed to introduce young people to jazz and develop the
talents and confidence of young jazz musicians.
* Quincy Jones is founder of the Institute for Black American Music, the
Black Arts Festival in Chicago, the National Black Arts Festival in
Atlanta, and the Quincy Jones Listen Up Foundation, an organization
devoted to breaking the cycle of poverty and violence by introducing
children to culture, education and technology.
* Martha Richards established The Fund for Women Artists, an organization
dedicated to increasing the visibility, diversity and employment of
women in the arts.
