“If I can get the voice out there to younger people about things that are going on in the environmental movement, that’s what I’ll choose to do,” Leo stated regarding his rising status as Hollywood’s environmental poster boy.
DiCaprio flew to the Jökulsárlón glacier lagoon in Iceland for the shoot and then the magazine added Knut (a Polar Bear) in later digitally. The article will preview DiCaprio’s “11th Hour” documentary on global warming (See related article HT 03/07/07).

The environment isn’t just winning in Hollywood these days. In a 5-4 decision today, the U.S. Supreme Court ruled that the EPA has the authority to regulate carbon dioxide emissions, saying that the EPA’s reasons for not doing so in the past were ‘arbitrary, capricious or otherwise not in accordance with law.’
While the EPA is not required to increase the emission standards on a federal level, they now have the ability to do so.
Robert Redford, also in the issue, began fighting for environmental causes in the early 1960’s and recently launched a weekly program focused on environmental sustainability on his own, Sundance Channel called “The Green.”
“The Green” is publicized as the first regularly scheduled program dedicated 100% to the environment. Shows and documentaries with environmental themes are programmed weekly and with the help of a multimedia website the show attempts to create a multimedia forum dedicated to environmental matters.
