BRIAN ENO 77 MILLION PAINTINGS' CANADIAN PREMIERE AT LOLA SEPT. 20-22 

LONDON,ON (RUSHPRNEWS)August 27, 2007 - Famous for his musical output with Roxy Music and as a producer for mega bands such as U2, Brian Eno also has had a long career as a visual artist. He has worked with generative light compositions in the same way that he has worked with generative music for decades.  His visual work has been exhibited in galleries across the globe and installations of his latest generative artwork, "77 Million Paintings" will be showing for the first time at London Ontario Live Art Festival 2007 (LOLA) in London, Ontario September 20 - 23.  Following LOLA the exhibition will be traveling to the Biennales of both Venice and Milan this year.

As part of LOLA: London Ontario Live Arts festival 2007 The London Public Library in association with Museum London is please to present the Canadian premiere of 77 Million Paintings at the Wolf Performance Theatre. For this event, Brian Eno will create a unique installation of his work that uses customized software to create literally millions of visual combinations of "visual music".

The paintings are generated from handmade slides that are randomly combined by the computer. The software also processes music that accompanies the paintings, in a similar way to the selection of elements and their duration in the piece, are arbitrarily chosen, forming a virtually infinite number of variations.

The result is that having created the seed of the work it becomes unpredictable even to the artist himself- and every viewer also has a unique experience of the painting. For the duration of LOLA, "77 Million Paintings" will unfold at the Wolf Performance theatre, a unique performance in everyway, a unique performance however, without players.
