Winners of the 2007 MTV Video Music AwardsVMAs, needing a comeback themselves, get reviews that would close any B’Way show
By Jeffrey Jolson for Hollywood Today
LAS VEGAS, (RUSHPRNEWS) September 10,2007 -The MTV Video Music Awards, needing a comeback themselves after a 28 percent ratings drop last year, didn’t get it from their much-hyped return of Britney Spears which was savaged by critics in the U.S. and abroad. Britney, making a return to her career after three years of troubled absence, phoned in a lip-sync with blasé dance moves. She gained weight which wouldn’t be a big deal except she performed in a sparkling black bikini. She was helped up on the riser, maybe normal, but it appeared to be needed. Stars in the audience stared blankly at her. Biggest crime of all: it wasn’t sexy, wasn’t Britney. And wasn’t MTV.
