Oscar winner Helen Mirren adds Emmy to her shelf By Michele A. Matthews for Hollywood Today
HOLLYWOOD, CA (RUSHPRNEWS) September 17, 2007 — Boasting two nominations, but no wins from the Golden Globes, “Prime Suspect: The Final Act,” held no prisoners at the Emmys tonight. Starting strong with a win for Helen Mirren as Outstanding Lead Actress in a Miniseries, Movie, or Dramatic Special, “Prime Suspect: The Final Act” was awarded three Emmys tonight.

Mirren praised PBS for broadcasting the show to American audiences.
“I am just glad that PBS allowed us to share our work with the Americans,” she said.
Philip Martin was awarded for Directing a Miniseries, Movie, or Dramatic Special immediately following Mirren. A man of few words, Martin praised his colleague, Mirren for her hard work, but had little else to say about the win or the miniseries.
Following his colleagues, Frank Deasy graciously accepted the award for Writing for a Miniseries, Movie, or Dramatic Special.
A British miniseries in which Mirren plays a soon to be retired detective taking on one final case, “Prime Suspect: The Final Act” has transcended British audiences and apparently struck a chord with audiences, actors and actresses, editors and directors in the US as well.
In addition to the other awards mentioned, “Prime Suspect: The Final Act” also won an Eddie this year.
