POM Provides 1,800 High-Tech Parking Meters to Montgomery, Alabama 

RUSSELLVILLE, ARKANSAS (RUSHPRNEWS), December 7, 2007.  After careful evaluation and award of bids in May of this year, the City of Montgomery, Alabama, has installed 800 new electronic parking meter inserts from POM Incorporated.  The high-tech digital mechanisms accept coins and smart cards and allow the city to utilize their existing meter housings. The meters may be audited and programmed through the payment slot, a method patented by POM.  The city's satisfaction with the quality and performance of the new meters has resulted in another order of 1,000, to be shipped by yearend.    

Montgomery's decision to continue with single-space parking meters throughout the city demonstrates its commitment to provide the most convenient method of metered parking to its downtown patrons at the least cost and disruption to its residents and merchants.    The new meters are upgradeable to integrate with complementary technologies such as alternate payment methods, wireless communication, vehicle detection, and enforcement.
