NEW YORK (RUSHPRNEWS) December 7, 2007 -I want to share some great news. We won a big victory on Wednesday when the Senate Environment and Public Works Committee voted 11-8 to report a landmark global warming bill -- America's Climate Security Act -- to the Senate floor.

You helped seal the deal by making your voice heard in the Senate this week, and demanding that America start cutting our global warming pollution.

Powerful pressure from concerned citizens like you has made this bill even stronger. On Wednesday, the committee added a low carbon fuel standard, which would cut America's dependence on carbon-based fuels and help expand the market for renewable fuels and vehicles.

The Senate committee vote will reverberate around the world to Bali, where delegates from 190 countries eagerly await signs that the United States will resume leadership on confronting global warming.

We have no time to lose. Recent findings from the International Panel on Climate Change leave little doubt that we must act quickly to make deep cuts in global warming pollution -- or suffer the irreversible consequences of an overheated planet.

As this bill moves to the Senate floor -- for a possible vote early next year -- the NRDC Action Fund will be fighting to strengthen the bill still further, and to stave off any weakening amendments.
