Today is a big day for the Webbys as we announce the first set of Webby Special Achievement Award Winners for the 12th Annual Webby Awards.

NEW YORK (RUSHPRNEWS) May 6, 2008 - Stephen Colbert will be presented with the Webby Person of the Year Award in recognition of his pioneering role in utilizing the Internet as a significant tool for interaction with fans of "The Colbert Report," his wildly popular Comedy Central television show.

Will. i. am will be honored with A Webby Artist of the Year Award in recognition of his contribution to the political landscape with his making of the Obama videos.

Film & Video Person of the Year Michel Gondry will be honored for his life-long, leading contribution in film and role at the forefront of the transformation of video.

Tim and Eric will be honored as Actor(s) of the Year for their pioneering work in web comedy. The duo began making short films and hilarious videos well before the YouTube age. They were discovered by Bob Odenkirk a few years ago and have since inked a deal with Adult Swim on the Cartoon Network, but continue to do online shorts and have a rabid online fan base.

All of the 2008 Special Achievement Award Winners are scheduled to attend the 12th Annual Webby Awards Gala.
