Miley Cyrus Semi-Provacative Videos up for BidMore apologies as footage posted in winter spoofed fellow Disney stars Selena Gomez and Demi Lovato

HOLLYWOOD, CA (RUSHPRNEWS) 7/28/08 - Miley Cyrus may become as yet a Mouskateer gone bad just as soon as Britney and Lindsay. Apparently, news media and bloggers alike got tired of waiting for Disney's tween sensation Miley Cyrus to ignite another controversy.

With the "Hannah Montana" star's latest set of provocative pictures (leaked just last week) already having gone cold, major entertainment news outlets, such as E! Online, MTV.com and Usmagazine.com, decided to report Friday on a YouTube video Cyrus made spoofing other Disney stars-last winter!

The video in question, which has received over 3.7 million hits to date, was part of "The Miley and Mandy Show," a YouTube series created by Cyrus and her best friend and backup dancer Mandy Jiroux. The footage, posted on March 14, poked fun at a message to fans made available on the video-sharing site two days earlier by up-and-coming Disney luminaries Selena Gomez and Demi Lovato.

While E! Online and Usmagazine.com made it clear the satirical recording was simply enjoying renewed interest amidst rumors Gomez had been dating Cyrus' pop-star ex, Nick Jonas, countless other news sources, including professional newsmen, bloggers and pundits, seemed to think the video was a fresh swipe at the network's fresh faces.
"If we offended them, we're super sorry," Cyrus said in a July 19 interview posted to YouTube yesterday by Popstar! Magazine in response to claims the parody was malicious and not playful in nature. "We were kind of supporting their [YouTube] channel, but also being silly, because they were being funny, you know, and that's our thing-to be funny."

MTV.com made no mention of the video's un-timeliness in an article dated July 25, while Hollywood.com went so far as to claim the video had just been released. Other publications and Web commentators that claimed the Cyrus/Jiroux creation was brand new included 2Snaps.tv, Arizona's National Ledger, Contactmusic.com, Dose.ca and Hollyscoop.com.

One of the few places to get it right was celebrity gossip site TMZ.com, which appropriately asked, "So can someone explain why this is news today?" after pointing out that not only was the parody several months old, but Cyrus also made a written "shout-out" to Gomez and Lovato at the end of the video, which referred to Gomez and Lovato as "friends," encouraging visits to their YouTube homepage.

"Elvis says imitation is the greatest form of flattery," Cyrus told Popstar!, insisting there was no animosity between the two camps, "and we were just imitating them."

Cyrus, 15, is arguably Disney's most bankable personality, starring in the wildly popular "Hannah Montana" TV show and films (the second of which will be released next May) and headlining a recent sold-out concert tour. Fellow fifteener Lovato co-starred in Disney's highly rated TV movie "Camp Rock" with company rockers the Jonas Brothers (including Nick) and is a childhood friend of Gomez, 16, who is best known for her starring role on the network's sitcom "Wizards of Waverly Place." The two became close while appearing on children's show "Barney & Friends" together several years ago.
