MONTREAL(RUSHPRNEWS)09/30/2008- Singer Janet Jackson was rushed to a hospital with an unexplained illness minutes before a performance in Montreal, Canada on Monday night. The show was canceled five minutes before rapper LL Cool J was to begin his opening act.

According to a statement released by W&W Public Relations in New York, Jackson canceled the show after she "got suddenly ill" during her sound check and had to be rushed to the hospital just before the show.

Jackson, 42, was being monitored in the hospital, but her publicists were unable to say on Tuesday whether she had been released and gave no further information about her illness.

After releasing her latest album, Discipline, in March, Jackson kicked off her international Rock Witchu tour, in Vancouver earlier this month.

"It's been a while, so I really want to make my rounds," she said in an interview this spring.
"There are a lot of places where I really want to stop off at, and that's the idea, that's the goal with this tour."

One of the best-selling female recording artists of the late 1980s and 1990s with hit albums that include "Control" and "Rhythm Nation 1814", Jackson was making her first appearance in Montreal in over seven years, after having performed in Toronto on Sunday night.

Last week, Jackson cancelled her concert in Detroit a day before it was to take place, due to "production constraints." It was eventually rescheduled for late October.

A representative for the singer says Jackson hopes to reschedule her concert as soon as possible.
