Amnesty International USA Placing Darfur Ads On Bus Shelters Next to UN

Ad Campaign To Reach United Nations Workers

NEW YORK(RushPRnews)10/23/08--There are 300,000 dead and counting. And every day that UN member states delay, more die in Darfur. Amnesty International is placing this hard-hitting message next to UN member states who have failed to deliver on promises made 15 months ago to provide peacekeepers, helicopters, and other critical resources to help end the mass killings in Darfur.

It is placing bus shelter ads near the United Nations in midtown Manhattan to send a powerful message to member states that they must keep their promises.

Amnesty International is reaching out to the community to sponsor an ad for a single day for $200, a week for $1,500, or even a whole month for $6,000. And if you sponsor a bus shelter ad for the entire month, we'll send you the original 4 x 6 foot artwork once the ad is taken down.

While governments delay, all sides of the conflict continue to commit unspeakable abuses–rape, murder, forced displacement–against the civilian population of Darfur. Recently, Sudanese security forces attacked a refugee camp in South Darfur, killing an estimated 47 displaced persons—including women and children. This tragic loss is a chilling reminder of the consequences of inaction.
