HIGH SCHOOL MUSICAL 3: SENIOR YEAR Not Even In Movie Theatres Yet and Already a Box Office Hit
October 23, 2008

LOS ANGELES,(RushPRnews)10/23/08-Although it's not in theaters till tomorrow, HIGH SCHOOL MUSICAL 3: SENIOR YEAR has already graduated to the top of Fandango's top all-time advance ticket-sellers. (It's currently #13 on the company's pre-sales list, led by STAR WARS: EPISODE 3: REVENGE OF THE SITH; THE DARK KNIGHT and HARRY POTTER AND THE GOBLET OF FIRE.)
Fandango is selling an average of four HSM3 tickets per transaction, which may indicate that groups of friends and families are going to gather at the movies this weekend.
Fandango is currently running a survey of moviegoers planning to see HSM3 this weekend. More than a thousand moviegoers have responded to the ongoing survey, which was posted earlier in the week, and results include the following data points:
* 98% of HSM3 ticket-buyers have seen the previous HSM movies;
* 84% of them own one of the HSM movies on DVD;
* 64% also saw HANNAH MONTANA 3D;
* 42% say they're going to see HSM3 this weekend because "my kids want to see it."
Ted Hong, VP Marketing of Fandango.com, cites an additional reason for the film's success: "More than ever, people want a diversion during tough economic times and this weekend, they're looking to escape with a big-screen musical. We're selling a higher-than-usual number of tickets per transaction for HSM3, so it's likely you'll see groups of friends, plus lots of parents bringing their kids - along with their friends and their kids' friends - to the multiplex this weekend."
