Getting to the Swearing-In Ceremony and the Inaugural Parade Tomorrow

WASHINGTON (RushPRNews)01/20/09--If you’re planning on going to either the Swearing-in Ceremony or the Inaugural Parade, be prepared for large crowds and a long commute time. Many of the roads have been shut down and some Metro Stops will be closed. Take a close look at the map below (you can download a printable PDF map here) and read more about what you need to know if you’re attending the swearing-In or the parade.



HOW TO GET THERE TOMORROW

By Metro:
Plan your trip here. The Archives-Navy Memorial-Penn Quarter station on Metro’s Green/Yellow Lines and the Smithsonian station on the Blue/Orange Lines, will be closed on Inauguration Day, Tuesday, January 20. They will open after the parade, approximately at 6:30 p.m. Judiciary Square station on the Red Line will close at 4 p.m. and Mt Vernon Sq 7th St-Convention Center station on the Green/Yellow Lines will close at 7:30 a.m. due to their proximity to locations hosting Inaugural Balls. Both stations are scheduled to reopen at 5 a.m. on Wednesday, January 21.



On Foot:
* The following access points have been identified as pedestrian-only routes to the National Mall:
E Street, NE from Massachusetts Avenue, NE to 3rd Street, NW
7th Street, SW from D Street, SW to Independence Avenue, SW
19th Street, NW from K Street, NW to DuPont Circle, NW
3rd Street Tunnel (I-395) from New York Avenue, NW to SE/SW Freeway
Arlington Memorial Bridge from Virginia, around Lincoln Circle to Independence
Avenue, SW East Capitol Street, NE to North Carolina, SE to New Jersey Avenue, SE to I Street, SE

By Car:
If you are traveling by car from outside the city, park in a lot near a Metro station and take Metro into Washington. Many roads will be closed (take a close look at the map or read the complete list of road closures). Public parking in Washington, D.C. will be extremely limited. No parking will be available on Capitol Hill.
