NEW YORK (RPRN) 04/20/09- Lil Wayne is about to invade day time audiences with an appearance on ABC's panel television show The View. While it is not known whether the rapper will sit down with The View's Barbara Walters, Whoopi Goldberg, Joy Behar, Elisabeth Hasselback, and Sherri Sheperd, word on the street is that Wayne is scheduled to perform on the show next week.
Despite having a seemingly uptight feel, the show has welcomed other hip hop heavy weights like T.I. to their show.
Although he may seem out of place, this is not Wayne's first go around on the "mainstream" circuit either, as he was previously interviewed by Katie Couric for a pre-Grammy Awards special.
"In New Orleans, reality is handed to you very very early," Wayne told Couric. "[Music], for me, was a way of always showing somebody my intelligence...I work very very hard, Ms. Katie. We don't approach things like we're good, we just approach it like we're gonna work and we're gonna work hard and hard works pays off. If you work that hard, then you're gonna get good and good turns to great and hopefully I'm the definition of that...I will stand up for marijuana any day...I have migraines, right, I have migraines that just make me want to kill myself...I do what I want, and I love to smoke."
At press time, Wayne's appearance on The View was scheduled to air on April 24.
