Sarasota, FL (RPRN) 5/22/2009 -- Renowned canine author and activist Genevieve Highpoint La Reine announces the formation of Dogs United against Discrimination and Unfairness, a new group dedicated to the advancement and protection of canine rights. Genevieve, the canine author of Small Dog, Big Life: Memoirs of a Furry Genius (Simon & Schuster, hardcover; ISBN 978-1416599500; cover price $17.99), announced today that Dogs United against Discrimination and Unfairness, or DUDU, is chartered to serve as the national watchdog against all forms of discrimination and cultural insensitivity toward dogs.In a barktated press release, Genevieve stated, “We dogs are over seventy million strong in this country. We serve proudly in the armed forces, police, and fire departments. We risk our lives locating lost humans and hidden explosives, and dutifully supply the nation with twenty thousand tons of fertilizer daily; yet, we are demeaned, shunned, and insulted every day of our lives. We will be muzzled no longer. Remember—you’re either walking with DUDU, or stepping in it.”
DUDU’s first campaign is one dear to Genevieve’s heart: “I applaud the effort made by the American Indians to eliminate demeaning sports-team nicknames such as ‘Chiefs,’ ‘Redskins,’ ‘Indians,’ and ‘Braves.’ Unfortunately, the problem is a lot bigger than that. Consider all the teams with canine nicknames, such as ‘Timberwolves,’ ‘Bulldogs,’ ‘Huskies,’ ‘Terriers,’ and so many more. A bunch of silly humans running around chasing a ball and they’re named after us. This must stop.”
Genevieve will not discount the possibility of legal action to end the practice, but she expressed optimism that the matter can be settled amicably without a costly dogfight in the courts.
Genevieve Highpoint La Reine is the proud holder of a degree in basic obedience—and is even prouder of never using it. She resides in Sarasota, Florida, and her favorite hobbies are eating and sleeping. Dr. Dennis Fried is Genevieve’s translator and typist. He holds advanced degrees in physics and philosophy, all of which have gone totally to waste. When not helping Genevieve with her career, he can usually be found pestering her for a raise. He resides in Sarasota with his wife, Katrina, and his boss, Genevieve.
Genevieve’s newest book, Small Dog, Big Life: Memoirs of a Furry Genius, is a scathing look at life with humans from a brilliant little dog’s point of view. She barktated it to Dr. Dennis Fried, who translated it from Doggerel into English. She also made Dr. Fried type it because she didn’t want to get carpal paw syndrome. Small Dog, Big Life is now available in bookstores nationally. For more information, please visit www.dogtellsall.com. Advancement and protection of canine rights huh... Sounds good, but is that really something we need... I smell a hidden agenda. Too many radical crazies as it is.
Got something to say?
