LOS ANGELES (RPRN/Hollywood Today) 7/23/2009 – Though “The O.C.” actress Mischa Barton has been in the hospital only a week, her publicist says she’s making a speedy recovery from her mystery affliction.
Craig Schneider told E! News yesterday that the 23-year-old starlet was tentatively ready to begin filming her upcoming CW drama, “The Beautiful Life,” a week from Friday.
Production of the hour-long show, co-starring Corbin Bleu and Sara Paxton, was originally scheduled to begin today, but was allegedly pushed back due to set-building difficulties. In it, Barton plays a troubled model whose career is on the outs.
Though Schneider would not specify Barton’s precise condition, he did tell the Associated Press that his client was seeking further treatment, despite the improvements she had made. Her hospitalization caused her to miss the New York premiere of her latest film, indie thriller “Homecoming,” the day after she was hospitalized.
Barton was involuntarily committed to Cedars-Sinai Medical Center last Wednesday by Los Angeles police after they responded to the star’s West Hollywood home and deemed her a possible danger to herself or others. Though she completed the mandatory 72 hours of psychiatric observation, Barton has remained in treatment on the advice of her doctor.
