‘Twilight’ Star in Cat Fight Over Casting

Lefevre decries Howard’s addition to ‘Eclipse’ cast

HOLLYWOOD, CA (RPRN/Hollywood Today) 7/30/09 – All is not well in the “Twilight” universe. Actress Rachelle Lefevre, who played feline vampire Victoria in the first two films of the series, says her unceremonious booting from the wildly popular franchise Tuesday was unfair.

Lefevre, 30, said in a statement Wednesday that Summit Entertainment’s decision earlier in the week to replace her with “The Village” star Bryce Dallas Howard had taken her completely by surprise and that she did not understand why a brief stint filming another book-to-film feature, “Barney’s Version,” would lead to her firing.

“Although the production schedule for ‘Eclipse’ is over three months long, Summit said they had a conflict during those 10 days and would not accommodate me,” Lefevre wrote. “Given the length of filming for ‘Eclipse,’ never did I fathom I would lose the role over a 10-day overlap.”

Summit released a response later in the day, stating that Lefevre gave the studio very little notice she would require a week and a half off and that it had warned her the scheduling conflict would put her role in jeopardy, since the entire cast’s professional schedules were already being juggled.

Assuming Summit does not reverse its decision, Lefevre’s final appearance as the evil bloodsucker will be in “New Moon,” which is in post-production and scheduled for a Nov. 20 release. “Eclipse” will start filming in Vancouver later this summer.
