NEW YORK (RPRN) 08/20/09 — Singer reads ‘Top Ten’ list in bikini
By Matthew B. Zeidman
–Britney Spears may still be a legal ward of her father, but she seemed determined to prove she was in perfect physical health Tuesday night, appearing in nothing but a black bikini on “The Late Show with David Letterman.”
Clad in the sexy swimwear and wearing a large red flower in her hair, the 27-year-old singer pondered an alternate reality, where she was president of the United States.
The pre-taped segment was part of the show’s satirical “Top Ten” list, which changes topic each night and is usually read by Letterman, himself. Ways Spears joked she would govern included, “We would only invade fun places, like Cabo,” “Every presidential news conference would feature costume changes,” and, “America might have a more coherent fiscal strategy.”
She also claimed she would lure terrorist mastermind Osama bin Laden out of hiding with the scent of her new fragrance and would challenge America to establish a night club on the moon by decade’s end. Spears ended the list by sarcastically suggesting the news media would “finally” pay her some attention.
The pop superstar is in the final days of her nearly four-week break between the European leg of her “Circus” comeback tour and her second North American leg. Spears last performed in Berlin on July 26 and will start again on Aug. 20 in the Canadian province of Ontario. Her next appearance in the United States will be a three-night stint at New York’s Madison Square Garden beginning Aug. 24.
