- Kanye West wasn’t the only one to invade the Radio City Music Hall stage last night at the MTV Video Music Awards. “Twilight” stars Kristin Stewart, Robert Pattinson and Taylor Lautner took the stage to debut an extended trailer of “The Twilight Saga: New Moon” to the delight of many fans. Soon after the debut, reactions began reverberating all over the internet on networking sites such as Twitter.
As one fan tweeted, “NEW MOON FOOTAGE at VMAs….OMG! AMAZING!!!!!!!!!! Can’t wait for November!!!!!!”
The trailer offers a look at the darker sequel to last year’s blockbuster, which details what happens when Pattinson’s character, vampire Edward Cullen, leaves his girlfriend, the mortal Bella Swan (played by Stewart). “This is the last time you’ll see me,” he says. “Please do not do anything reckless.” But the heartbroken girl turns adrenaline junkie after she discovers that she can “hear” Edwards voice in her head when she is close to death. The trailer also portrays Bella’s deepening friendship with Jacob Black (played by Lautner), whom she seeks comfort in after Edward’s departure. Furthermore, the advanced CGI is shown, particularly when Jacob, who is a werewolf, transforms into the mythical beast to protect Bella from revenge-seeking vampires.
“New Moon” is based on a novel written by Stephenie Meyers and is the second book in the Twilight Saga trilogy. The first film in the series, “Twilight,” collected nearly $400 million worldwide in 2008. “New Moon” opens November 20th and according to film critic Peter Travers, should be the fall’s top earner.
