HOLLYWOOD, CA (RPRN) 09/19/09 — “The Time of My Life”
By Adam Shapiro
Swayze could move and we will miss him
The memoirs of the late Patrick Swayze will be released Sept. 29 in a book appropriately entitled, “The Time of My Life.” Swayze, who co-wrote the memoirs with his wife of 34 years and high school sweetheart, Lisa Niemi, organized the writing to appear as though he is recounting his life story to himself as opposed to the reader.
Judith Curr, publisher of Atria Books, discussed the book with Matt Lauer Wednesday during an appearance on NBC’s “The Today Show.” She explained Swayze’s decision to write his memoir in the manner in which he did. “When he sat down to write the book, he wanted to see if he had lived a good life.” She went on to add that his wife answers that question wholeheartedly. “He absolutely was a good person and lived a good life,” Niemi wrote.

The life and love Swayze shared with his wife was unique and very special. The two were married in 1975 after they met five years earlier, when Niemi was taking dance lessons with Swayze’s mother. Swayze wrote about his love for his wife. “How grateful I am that you chose to love me. I know that because of you, I’ve found my spirit. I saw the man I wanted to be. You are my woman, my lover, my mate and my lady. I loved you forever, I love you now and I will love you forever more.”
