Amherst, MA (RPRN) 07/05/11 — Amherst, MA - Dr. Lisa Emirzian, an Amherst dentist at EMA Dental, now provides her patients with the Invisalign line of invisible braces. "The Invisalign system is quite different from regular braces," notes Emirzian, the cosmetic dentist. "It offers numerous advantages to the patient."
Invisalign employs a series of customized clear plastic aligners that move teeth steadily and gently over time. The system includes no brackets or wires. As the first step in the Invisalign process, the staff takes impressions. Then custom aligners are fabricated. Every other week, the patient switches out an old aligner for a new model. Gradually the teeth start to move, until you have the smile you've always envisioned.
One big benefit of the Invisalign system is that the aligners can be removed. Patients may remove them to eat, drink or brush. Since the aligners must only be in your mouth approximately 20-22 hours a day, you may also take them out for special activities. The fact that you can remove the aligners is advantageous when you are brushing your teeth. "Regular braces often make it difficult to keep teeth clean," explains Emirzian, an Amherst general dentistry practitioner. "However, when you can take out the aligners, you can brush your teeth like normal. You're far less likely to find cavities or other difficulties after the treatment is completed."
Invisalign is very sophisticated system for orthodontics. "Patients often believe that Invisalign is only good for fixing fairly minor orthodontic issues," says Emirzian, aa Amherst dental implants practitioner. "But an experienced Invisalign provider can design a system that can correct malocclusions, crowding, open bites or spacing and rotation issues."
"My patients have frequently remarked on how comfortable the Invisalign system is and how simple it is to use," observes Emirzian. "They can get the smile they have been dreaming of without dealing with a mouth full of metal braces. They are so happy."
