Invisalign Teen Still a Favorite at Las Vegas Children's Orthodontics

Las Vegas, NV (RPRN) 08/03/11 —  - Ever since Align Technology released Invisalign Teen to the market three years ago, it has been a popular choice at Dr. David Alpan’s Las Vegas children's orthodontics practice. Alpan says, "Invisalign Teen has been a great addition to the braces we offer at Aesthetic Orthodontics."

Align Technology launched the product line in July 2008 as a specialized version of the original Invisalign system, a series of clear, removable teeth aligners that gradually move teeth into the proper positions.

One addition to the teen version was wear indicator inside the aligner on one of the back molars. The wear indicator, a blue dot, fades as the aligner is worn, letting parents and the orthodontist know if the aligner has been worn as directed. The teen series also allows six free replacements for lost or broken aligners.

Although many teenagers choose invisible braces because they want a beautiful smile without traditional metal brackets and wires, there are more benefits than just better aesthetics, according to Las Vegas braces for children expert Dr. Alpan.

"Oral hygiene is easier because the aligners are removable, which typically means more thorough brushing and a healthier mouth,” says Alpan, an orthodontist who has been practicing since 1998.

Correcting malocclusions with braces can also prevent problems like pain in jaw joints and uneven wear on the teeth.

About Dr. David Alpan
Dr. David Alpan earned the Doctor of Dental Surgery degree from the University of the Pacific School of Dentistry in San Francisco and became licensed to practice dentistry in California and Nevada in 1996. He went on to earn his Orthodontic Specialty certificate at UOP in 1998. During the same year, UOP awarded him the Master of Science in Dentistry (MSD) degree for his masters' thesis on the results of his two-year TMJ research project.
