OZ Systems Provides Latest Information Systems Guidance For Newborn Hearing Screening At EHDI Conference
GLENDALE, AZ (RPRN) 04/15/13 —

--

OZ Systems, a leading provider of public health information systems and interoperable exchange, will participate in the Early Hearing Detection and Intervention (EHDI) Conference taking place April 14-16 in Glendale, Arizona. The meeting is held annually to enhance the implementation of comprehensive state-based EHDI programs.

OZ Systems boasts a team of 16 clinical and technical specialists who focus on EHDI programs and IT solutions for early hearing detection and data reporting. The team will be on hand to discuss how to share data between hospitals and public health, measure and improve quality and explore point of care newborn screenings, birth defects and EHDI-specific, interoperable health data systems. Mary Catherine Hess, OZ program coordinator for the Texas EHDI program, will speak about Texas’ efforts to implement new health information technology standards for improved reporting (Monday the 15th, 2:30pm, Renaissance Glendale Hotel – Cira B).

OZ Systems CEO, Terese Finitzo, MD, PhD, is a board certified audiologist who has spent the past decade collaborating with clinicians and public health to improve data collection and reporting of newborn hearing screening results and follow-up intervention services in support of improved outcomes for young patients. Dr. Finitzo’s recent post about the important lessons learned from newborn hearing screening was widely shared in the public health community.

“Public health like no other agency, organization or university in this country, has the opportunity to forge a clear pathway for maternal and child health programs with a change in attitude about newborn screening.

Information management and meaningful data collection are the prime catalysts for this change,” said Dr. Terese Finitzo. “We’ve been privileged to tackle these challenges with state and federal agencies in a way that enhances workflow and data integration for hospitals and public health while also improving outcomes for children.”

OZ Systems continues to rank among world leaders in the development and implementation of IT platforms and information systems that enable early detection and intervention. The EHDI Conference comes at a time when states are particularly challenged by budget shortfalls impacting programs. OZ Systems’ continued collaboration with 12 states and territories and seven international programs has meant more integrated, robust data integration for screening, audiologic diagnostic evaluation, early intervention, follow-up, reporting and surveillance.

About the EHDI Conference

Since 2002, the Early Hearing Detection and Intervention Conference has given local, state, and federal EHDI stakeholders, clinicians, academic researchers, advocacy organizations and families an opportunity to identify areas of concern, promote collaboration, and share best practices for professionals and parents intent on improving early hearing screening, diagnosis, and intervention systems for infants/young children and their families. The full conference schedule is available at ehdimeeting.org/Schedule.
