March with your pooch Sunday May 28th at Parc Lafontaine

Montreal,QC(rushprnews)05/26/2006 - Quebecers love their pets.  Each year, Quebec pet owners spend millions of dollars indulging their pets.  Any local veterinarian or pet supply store worker will provide an eye witness account to this.  Unfortunately, the lives of these pets contrast greatly from the thousands of animals that are abandoned each year at the SPCA, or those that we seize from the hands of abuse either from their master or because of the lax animal protection laws in the province of Quebec.  We hope this powerful comparison will motivate the public to look at their beloved four-legged friend and be inspired to fight for those who cannot fight for themselves. 

“Fight for those who cannot fight for themselves!” 

All animal lovers are invited to raise pledges for the SPCA.  On May 28^th, join the hundreds of Quebecers at Parc Lafontaine to say loudly that we are a community that loves, respects and protects animals.  Walk in the Royal Canin Shaggy Dog Strut and help raise money to hire new Animal Protection Officers in Quebec.

The Canadian SPCA was founded in 1869 making it the oldest humane society in Canada. Its mission is to protect animals against negligence, abuse and exploitation and to speak for those who cannot speak for themselves by ensuring their well-being. Raising public awareness and helping develop compassion for all living creatures is also part of its mandate. Every year, the Montreal and Laval SPCA find homes for over 10,000 animals, making them the shelters with the highest number of adoptions in Canada.
