Seattle, WA(RUSHPRNEWS) AUGUST 20,2008— Vegans, vegetarians, and others who want to cut out or cut down on their intake of meat and dairy products want healthy and humane options delivered to their door. With that in mind, PETA members have voted on the top 10 vegan-friendly pizzerias in the U.S., and Pizza Pi of Seattle has placed second.
Pizza Pi in Seattle doesn’t just have vegan options–its entire menu is vegan! Not only is the pizza tasty, there’s loads of variety as well. Mock meats range from pepperoni to Canadian bacon to veggie sausage, and vegetables include sun-dried tomatoes, artichokes, and capers, just to name a few. Pizza Pi also carries vegan calzones, a wide range of sandwiches, and vegan desserts.
Claiming first place is Pizza Luce in Minneapolis, with its wide selection of mock meats, including faux chicken and duck; its delicious soy cheese and myriad fresh vegetables; and its vegan Cajun-style sandwiches.
Rounding out the top 10 are Gianna’s in Philadelphia; T.J. Scallywaggle’s in Boston; The Pizza Research Institute in Eugene, Ore.; Bella’s Pizzeria in Norfolk, Va.; Mac’s Pizza Pub in Cincinnati; Slice of Life in Sebastopol, Calif.; and The Rudyard Kipling in Louisville, Ky. Each winner will receive a framed certificate.
“Any way you slice it, Pizza Pi’s vegan pizza offers all of the flavor but none of the cholesterol and cruelty that come with meat and cheese,” says PETA Executive Vice President Tracy Reiman. “Pizza Pi is a great example of the growing number of restaurants meeting America’s hunger for healthy and humane cuisine.”
Pizza Pi is located at 5500 University Way N.E. in Seattle. The telephone number is 206-343-1415.
