Bob Johnson: New Clinton Acolyte’s Slur – Message to Hillary Clinton; be careful with your selection of friends.
Black Star News Editorial
NEW YORK, (RUSHPRNEWS) January 14th, 2008 – This time, another Clinton acolyte, who is Black, but is not generally identified with Black causes, delivered another slur to help advance the Clinton agenda. Clearly, Clinton must believe the only way she can win the nomination is by shooting down Obama. Obama hasn’t sufficiently fired back. Yet, every vile Clinton attack must be met by immediate retaliation. Otherwise the Clintons will do a swift boat on Senator Obama.
Today, while introducing Clinton in Columbia, South Carolina, acolyte, BET founder Bob Johnson said “I am frankly insulted that the Obama campaign would imply that we are so stupid that we would think Hillary and Bill Clinton who have been deeply and emotionally involved in Black issues when Barack Obama was doing something in the neighborhood that I won’t say what he was doing but he said it in his book.”
The slur was clearly reference to Senator Obama having admitted in his book that in his youth he had experimented with drugs. It’s not Obama who insults people’s intelligence–it is Senator Clinton. This evening her campaign forwarded this newspaper the following press release from Johnson:
“My comments today were referring to Barack Obama’s time spent as a community organizer, and nothing else. Any other suggestion is simply irresponsible and incorrect.
When Hillary Clinton was in her twenties she worked to provide protections for abused and battered children and helped ensure that children with disabilities could attend public school. That results oriented leadership — even as a young person — is the reason I am supporting Hillary Clinton.â€
We are so stupid that we are expected to believe that the above is what Johnson meant when he said Obama “was doing something in the neighborhood that I won’t say what he was doing but he said it in his bookâ€?
We wonder whether the Clinton’s helped him produce this newspeak. It’s sad that Johnson would allow himself to be exploited in such a manner; the Clinton’s use him to be insulated against charges of racism since Johnson is African American.
Johnson’s attack line is the same as the one used by Clinton acolytes prior to the New Hampshire primary, when former Clinton co-campaign head there Bob Shaheen made similar reference to Obama’s admitted past drug use. He had also speculated that Republicans would want to know whether he had been a drug dealer. On that occasion Shaheen, who is white, subsequently resigned.
(Come to think of it, Clinton’s husband, former president Bill Clinton also admitted to smoking marijuana, although he disingenuously claimed he “never inhaled.†Might the Republicans also not want to know if he too was a drug dealer? After all, Clinton did come from a background of poverty as well).
Clinton selected the wrong person for today’s slur. Although a billionaire, Johnson’s enduring legacy is perhaps as toxic, if not more so, than drug abuse: he created BET and became famous for peddling almost-pornographic music videos of gyrating scantily clad women to the Black community.
Bob Johnson is no Oprah Winfrey.
While they were at it, did Senator Clinton ask her fried about those videos and the rappers promoted by Johnson’s BET who denigrated Black women as “byetches†and “hos
Unless that’s all fine with Senator Clinton. It was all fine with Johnson.
