Nicole and Keith share the birth of their first child, Sunday Rose Kidman Urban

NASHVILLE, TN (RUSHPRNEWS) 7/11/2008 – – “Early this morning Nic gave birth to our beautiful baby girl, Sunday Rose Kidman Urban. We want to thank everybody that has kept us in their thoughts and prayers,” said Keith Urban. This is their first child together.

Sunday Rose was born into the world on Monday at 6 lbs. 7.5 ounces.

“Husband Keith was by Nicole’s side and mother and baby are doing well,” said family spokesperson Paul Freundlich. The couple has remained in their gated community in Nashville during the past few weeks to prepare for the birth. They officially announced Nicole’s pregnancy in January when she was three months pregnant.

Although many people associate Nicole Kidman, 41, as Australian, that is partly correct since she has lived “down under” since she was four and maintains dual citizenship. In truth, Kidman is a U.S. citizen, born in Honolulu, Hawaii. Her country music husband, Keith Urban, 40, is New Zealand born. The couple first met at an event in Hollywood, CA and began dating six months later. They were married in Sydney, Australia on June 25, and celebrated their second wedding this year.

Nicole was married to Tom Cruise, 46, from 1990-2001. The couple still maintain a close friendship. They adopted two children during their marriage, Isabella, 15, and Conner, 13.

As an actress and mother, Kidman has found time to be a goodwill ambassador for two major charities. UNICEF and UNIFEM, both United Nations charities work to help woman and children worldwide.

Kidman won an Oscar in 2003 for Best Actress in a Leading Role for the film, ‘The Hour.’ Urban is a two-time Grammy winner for Best Male Country Vocal Performance, in 2006 for ‘You’ll think of Me,’ and 2008 for ‘Stupid Boy.’

To better prepare for the birth of their little girl, the happy couple spent time a Lamaze classes and Nicole was seen taking spin and yoga classes.

“The unknown excites me a lot. What kind of feelings will fatherhood bring? I’m sure I can’t even imagine but I am really looking forward to finding out,” the jubilant Urban told reporters.

Kidman and Urban maintain homes in Australia, Nashville, and Los Angeles. They are expected to remain in Nashville until Nicole and Rose are given doctors permission to travel. You can expect the paparazzi to bring the world pictures of Sunday Rose with in a day or two.
