LOS ANGELES (RUSHPRNEWS) AUGUST 16, 2008–The unexpected death of Kanye West’s mother, Dr. Donda West, has prompted the California Senate to apply new rules for elective surgery. The state Senate has approved a requirement that forces all patients to undergo a full body physical examination prior to elective surgery.
“Many of us are concerned about the quality of care extended to those who receive elective surgery,” Democratic State Senator Mark Ridley-Thomas explained.
Dr. West died on November 10 in Los Angeles, after undergoing an abdominoplasty, commonly known as a tummy tuck and breast reduction.
The family strongly believes an examination would have discovered his mother’s coronary artery disease that allegedly resulted in surgery complications at the hands of Dr. Jan Adams.
Senator Mark Ridley-Thomas stressed the importance of this ruling saying, “Many of us are concerned about the quality of care extended,” he told the Times, “to those who receive elective surgery.”
To keep his mothers memory alive, Kanye changed the name of his foundation this to the Dr. Donda West foundation, as a permanent tribute to her extraordinary legacy and passion for education. Recently he teamed with MTV for a special “Choose Or Lose” a one-hour special based on Iraq veterans’ personal stories. Upon meeting the selected few, he used his foundation to reward each veteran by funding any school tuitions paying off debts, and rents.
