MONTREAL,OTTAWA(RUSHPRNEWS)09/12/2008–As a child, he was a prodigy. As a youth he played with Flamenco legends. Now he is 19 and is playing for the first time in Canada. On the national tour with Flamenco guitar phenomenon Javier Conde is Canada’s own Flamenco sensation, Claire Marchand.
This is the first time a Canadian Flamenco dancer has ever performed with this caliber of Flamenco artist.Born in Caceres, Spain in 1988, Javier Conde has been known for several years as the ‘Wunderkind’ of the flamenco guitar.
Trained by his father, José Antonio Conde, and Flamenco grandmaster Andrés Batista, he has been performing on stage since the age of eight. In 2003, he recorded his first solo CD, which led to invitations to the biggest guitar festivals in Europe, for both the flamenco and the classical guitar. Serious recognition in flamenco circles came by winning the fiercely contested ‘Bordón Minero’ first prize at the festival of La Unión at age 15. This prize has never before been won by such a young guitarist. In addition to his phenomenal technique, it is above all the phrasing that distinguishes his guitar playing.
Now at age 19, Javier Conde is playing at the same level that Paco de Lucia (regarded as the best in the world) played at the same age, and is playing at the most prestigious Flamenco Festivals in the world.
Claire Marchand is known for her grace and impeccable mastery of the Flamenco dance form. She has garnered both national and international recognition through her studies with such maestros as El Güito, Manolete, La CÃntia, and Belén Maya. Marchand’s mesmerizing style is a perfect match for the power of Conde’s music.
