By Karen Loftus & Jeffrey Jolson
LOS ANGELES (RUSHPRNEWS) 09/22/2008–Recession, depression, and election…the swag must and oddly does go in. No matter what is happening in the real world, swag continues to reign in the surreal city of LA LA.
This Emmy season was no different. The suites were more in full fall bloom, just a bit more scaled back than recent seasons, yet absolutely packed to the gills. Here’s a wee snapshot of the Pre-Emmy freebies.
A Full House
Melanie Segal’s Celebrity Emmy House above the Sunset Strip was a full house. The house on the hill offered a warm welcome as Dove’s chocolates & Kathryn Hall red wines were doled out as you walked in the door while Sage Restaurant passed around more savory bites. Luxury Jets was on deck with gift certificates for shared private jets to Vegas, Macau and everywhere in between.
If you wanted to step out in style, Klub Nico’s Brazilian shoe beauties were just the ticket or Dussault who designs for Chris Angell, Gene Simmon’s & Kelly Pickler were offering an edgy range of hot high end hoodies, T’s & hats while Proportion of Blu jeans had sexy denim for guys and gals & Chip & Pepper had head turning T’s.
T3 known for their dryers & irons dished out sprays & serums, Make up Made easy extended LA lashes and Distant LA robes offered a nice wrap. Proceeds of the event, as celebs ad guests were asked to make a donation upon entering, all went to Brad Pitt’s Make it Right NOLA www.makeitrightnola.org.
Shhhhhhh
The Secret Room held on Robertson Blvd, a few blocks from the Kitson Corridor had lovely Leona Valley reds on pour, a winery, a mere 60 minutes from LA. If the red wine antioxidants weren’t enough to create a glow, there were plenty of skin things on deck from Modele with their exfoliating scrub clothes, perfect for travel to Sabon, which has lovely shops across the country and Hylunia with their serums and cream. Shane and Shawn had Betty Boop black leather pumps, perfect for wowing the red carpet crowd.
More Mondrian Please
The Mondrian Hotel, once the star-sighting hotel to see and be seen on the Sunset Strip is once again ready for yet another close up after a recent renovation and reinvention. Gavin Kelly of GBK is just the one to shine the light on an LA landmark, a charity and an Emmy swag suite.
The GBK suite took up a whole floor of the hotel where rooms were chock a block with lifestyle goodies. For the survival of the fittest all eyes were on The Burn Machine’s Asymmetrical Barbell Systems, the Speed and The Ultimate, perfect for at home or on the go training, ideal for the celeb set. For You had customized protein powder and energy bars while Trans D Tropin promised to turn back the clock, increase libido and dream potential all with a few drops on your forearm.
Boozeh had bejeweled embellished black T’s; Rough Ross slipped their skinny belts around the slight wasted. And 3 Lab was back on track with eye creams, Revitalash with their lash extension and M. Carlesimo had soy candles to set the mood.
The Main Event
Debbie Durkin never disappoints with her suites. She partnered with Platform Media Group for her Red Carpet Lounge & Green Suite held at a private state in Hancock Park. Valet of the Dolls parked our cars and drive us to the door of the event in their solar charged golf cart cars, The Cruise Car, no relation to Tom.
There was a mix of healthy options. There were Raw bars, Flax USA had crunchy flax snax, and Dr. Weil had Goji bars, Organic to Go had just the right savory snax to fuel one through the day and you had your choice of Fuel Water or the Flawless Vodka for a more spirited tipple.
SKINN had amazing products for; you guessed it, the skin. The Pregnant chemist behind the line was beaming with both baby and beautiful skin. Beauty Lash had lash-extending product and Alpaca had Peruvian scarves, LowePro had eco camera bags and Sassi had sassy scarves to pull back your hair while bathing, sun or otherwise, perfect for Best Brazilian Hotels, which was showcasing their many hot properties. The evening’s Poker Challenge as benefit to The Creative Coalition.
The Hills Are Alive!
The Hills are a big hit on today’s TV as was The Alive Expo held at The Sofitel Hotel in WEHO. The place was absolutely packed, a sure sign that Eco is the clearly the new black. They had two rooms full of eco friendly freebies. One room was full of lifestyle and fashion from Smart Glass with it’s recycled bottles turned in to hip and trendy necklaces to Bust Ease to add a bit of a lift for the non-surgical set and Yum Yum skin care travel kits for on the go beauties.
Across the hall and far far away were Omega 3 vitamins, Oreganol, Cod Liver Oil and Honey infused wheat grass. The big gift was The Ventura Center on site offering ionic foot soaks sure to detox and erase recent sins and the Infrared body wraps that burn fat while you bag Z’s. The center offers all kinds of detox and weight loss options on site.
Sunset People
Patrick Melville’s Emmy suite at the Sunset Marquis was tiptop drawer. The expansive Villa # 10 at the famed Marquis had an array of beauty blow outs, touch up and rub downs going on in every room and on the back deck while the fashion and celeb set sipped on champagne and Chaya Brasserie bites in between services.
Equinox offered massages, FHI blow dryers and flat irons, Sebastian hair products, Bio Lustre Polymer products and treatments on site and Belengenza’s creator was on site with his uber blonde hair, the prefect promotion for his au natural products that are taking over processed strands by storm. Patrick Melville himself was on site offering flawless blowouts, color and conditioning.
Pow Wow
Wow Creations held their Emmy suite at The Renaissance Hotel, home of the Kodak Theater and the famed Oscar Awards. In the Los Feliz Room, Krol vodka was the spirit of choice. Jane Heart, the designer of choice had equine inspired jewelry while Dr. Jeannette Graf had Skin Deep wrinkle gel, Smileworks had Med Spa, dental and beauty options all in one building in Redondo Beach and Activage a Japanese skin product had small bottles that produced big changes in the skin.
The Luxe Life
Nathlie Dubois’ Emmy suite was at The Luxe Hotel on Rodeo in Beverly Hills. I ran in to Current TVs hot hosts, now Gap Ad models. The guys say they are up for a few Emmy’s this year but it is Big Al that is going to the Emmy’s (Al Gore as Current is his network, for those not in the know). No worries as the guys are set to hit all of the post parties.
On deck at The Luxe was Biotene for clean and healthy teeth, Umo Gold with their gold skin treatment perfect for the celeb set and plenty of Umo products that left your skin silky smooth. For the fashion forward jetsetter, Sphatika had their travel pack, the perfect travel companion compete with a full line of skin savvy goodies in TSA approved carry on sizes.
On the fashion front, Hungarian and LA based Eva Varro had vibrant slip dresses, tops and slinky pants adorned with Marrimekko and Pucci-esque prints, very European style. We’re told that Desperate Housewives pulled 40 pieces for this season.
The perfect Hollywood ending was the massage by the ever lovely Sarah and Courtney of Massage Express Co. The groovy gals and the company go to houses, hotels and sets and set up camp or an ambient tent complete with spa sounds and a great, goddess like, laid back attitude. Ommmm….
