Johnny Depp, Jude Law and Colin Farrell Gift Heath Ledger’s DaughteeBy Matthew B. Zeidman
HOLLYWOOD, CA (RUSHPRNEWS) 8/21/08 – Following the tragic death of rising actor Heath Ledger in January, his family pledged to care for his 2-year-old daughter, Matilda, despite the fact he had not updated his will to leave her any of his money or worldly possessions. The co-stars of Ledger’s final film, however, have taken steps to ensure she will have access to funds of her own, should the need arise.
According to a report made Sunday by British publication The Sun, Johnny Depp, Colin Farrell and Jude Law, who will appear in “The Imaginarium of Dr. Parnassus,” gifted their salaries to Matilda, who is also the daughter of former “Dawson’s Creek” star Michelle Williams.
As Ledger’s scenes in “The Imaginarium of Dr. Parnassus” had not been completed prior to his passing, Depp, Farrell and Law were selected to play fantastical variants of his character, mysterious outsider Tony, so that the movie could be completed respectfully.
Ledger and Williams met while working on 2005’s hit indie film “Brokeback Mountain” and were also both in the 2007 Bob Dylan biopic “I’m Not There.” Matilda was born during their three years together, most of which they spent living together in a Brooklyn apartment.
