NEW YORK (RUSHPRNEWS)August 6, 2008-Music Choice, the award-winning, multi-platform video and music network, recently announced the record-breaking success of Universal Motown Recording artist Lil Wayne’s “Lollipop” video.
The hit music video had been viewed an unprecedented one million times two weeks in a row. Lil Wayne is the first artist ever to achieve this milestone since Music Choice launched its free Video On Demand Music Network in late 2004. With over ten million views to date, Rentrak, an independent media measurement and analytics company, confirms that “Lollipop” holds the all-time record as the most popular music video on Music Choice ever.
“Lollipop”, which features Static Major (R.I.P.), is nominated for Best Hip-Hop Video at MTV’s 25th annual Video Music Awards alongside Lupe Fiasco’s “Superstar”, Flo Rida’s “Low”, Kanye West’s “Homecoming”, and Mary J. Blige’s “Just Fine”. The show will air live and only one time in its original incarnation, on Sunday, September 7, 2008 at 9PM (Live ET/Tape Delayed PT).
Despite selling more than a million copies of his sixth release “Tha Carter III” in a week, and reportedly banking nearly $2.5 million in “love fees” for guest appearances in 2007, the rapper, born Dwayne Michael Carter, is not resting on his laurels.
“I gotta keep going, ’cause I still don’t have the crown,” Wayne explains in the September issue of Blender magazine. “Someone else just won Best Male Hip-Hop Artist at the BET Awards. Why not me? Huh? That tells me I’m not going hard enough. That tells me I’ve done something wrong.”
