Sean Connery Releases Autobiography
Edinburgh, Scotland (RUSHPRNEWS) AUGUST 26, 2008–Sir Sean Connery has retuned to his home town to launch his autobiography Being a Scot. We get wind of this tome from the highland caves of Yahoo:He’s recognized around the world as the iconic face of James Bond. But in Britain, Sean Connery is also well known as a proud Scot, and on Monday he returns to his hometown to launch his autobiography.
“Being a Scot” looks at Connery’s early life as a milkman in Edinburgh’s Fountainbridge neighborhood, then delves into a wide-ranging look at Scottish culture including the work of poet Robert Burns, novelist Sir Walter Scott and Mary, Queen of Scots.
“It will illuminate what Fountainbridge’s most famous former milkman thinks of many aspects of Scottish culture and life, including sport, architecture, and of course the gothic tendency in Scots literature,” said Edinburgh International Book Festival director Catherine Lockerbie.
I was unaware that Mr. Connery used to deliver milk. How strange it must have been for his old customers to see the milkman from yesteryear become James Bond. I imagine many jokes were thrown about the town; “we’re so important – 007 delivered the milk” or “you think our milkman is tough, wait till you see out butcher!” (I’m here all week folks)
For those of you that are fans of Connery, this should be an interesting read for you. My girlfriend is Scottish, perhaps I will get this for her so she may connect with her roots through the life story of Mr. Connery.
