Rick Ross One of the songs on Rick Ross’ new album is called Magnificent and while some people might think the song was inspired by the 1989 hit song by Special ED, the songs’ producer Colion of the Justice League said the song was inspired by the late, great B.I.G.
“We actually went to the theaters and saw the Notorious,” said Colion when asked about the inspiration for Ross’ song Magnificent.
“When we got home, we were inspired to work with B.I.G. So we started making tracks for him and Magnificent was one of the beats that came out. We were like, ‘Yo, if Biggie was alive today what would he rap to?’ We were actually doing it for ourselves. Actually, our management sent that to Ross,” he added.
In a interview with HipHopDX.com, Ross was asked about the similarities between him and Frank White.
“A lot of people make those references, and it would be natural for me to emulate Biggie in some form or fashion – me being a diehard fan of his. And most definitely there needs to be a little class, a little dress-up sometimes to give people that energy and that vibe,” Ross said.
His album Deeper Than Rap was released on April 21 and it is expected to be #1 on the Billboard charts when the statistics are released tomorrow (April 28).
