We get the scoop from our friends at coming soon: Steven Spielberg and Will Smith are in early discussions to collaborate on a remake of Chan Wook-park’s Old Boy, says Variety. I have yet to see this Korean film. Every time I mention that I haven’t seen it people usually say “you haven’t seen Old Boy; what the fuck!†It’s a film that comes highly recommended and has had heaps of praise piled upon it.
I can only imagine that some of you are quite disgusted at the news of a Hollywood remake with Spielberg and Smith at the helm.
If they remake this film I sincerely hope they keep it as dark violent and violent as the original. People have very strong feelings towards this picture and I would hate to see it watered down. In light of this remake news I am going to finally track this down and watch it – so I may have a more educated opinion on the matter.
International friends – what do you think about this news. I am especially interest to know the thoughts of Old Boy fans.
