Tuskegee Airmen Scholarship Foundation (TASF) and University of Phoenix Announces New Scholarship Program
—The Tuskegee Airmen Scholarship Foundation has partnered with University of Phoenix to establish the Tuskegee Airmen Scholarship Foundation/University of Phoenix Scholarship. The purpose of the scholarship program is to provide educational opportunities to disadvantaged students in pursuit of their academic studies.
Five full-tuition scholarships will be awarded to students to seek an associate’s or bachelor’s degree online or at a University of Phoenix campus. The scholarships will cover tuition and fees (including University of Phoenix online textbooks). The scholarship award is a non-cash credit to the recipients University of Phoenix account. These scholarships are directed toward students who graduated from high school since 2007 and may be used for an undergraduate degree program of the student’s choice.
Application forms and instructions may be obtained from the Tuskegee Airmen Scholarship Foundation’s website (www.taisf.org).
The application process includes a two page essay and letter of recommendation from a community leader. The deadline for applications is July 31, 2009. The scholarships will be awarded on September 1, 2009.
“This partnership will allow us to continue the legacy of the Tuskegee Airmen by assisting even more people who want to improve their lives through education,” said Jerry T. Hodges, Jr., president of the Tuskegee Airmen Scholarship Foundation.
