NEW YORK (RPRN) 5/04/09—Amy Winehouse, Rihanna, Bobby Valentino, M.I.A, Day 26, The Dream, Estelle, Kat de Luna, Akon, Kanye West, Keri Hilson, Ghetts, Kid Cudi, Tinchy Stryder, Neyo, Eminem, spear head nominations at the annual Urban Music Awards USA taking place on July, the 17th in New York City.
The UMA’s will be held on the 17th of July 2009 in New York City and will be attended by more than 2,000 Artist, DJs, producers, promoters, record labels executives, celebrities from the world of music, radio, TV, sports and music fans from across the country. True to tradition, the public will rule and stars will rejoice with them.
Akon & Bobby Valentino grab triple nominations this year whilst Neyo , J. Holiday, The Dream, Keri Hilson, Musiq Soulchild, Jazmine Sullivan and previous UMA winner Estelle bag double nominations.
Double award nominee, Neyo said “Alot of US artists are always familiar with awards shows they see regularly and sometimes forget that there is a much bigger world out there. The Urban Music Awards is one of the biggest awards shows in Europe because it is the only show that gives a chance to music fans, booking agents, tour promoters worldwide to vote online for their favourites and that is credible to me and i am glad that it has expanded to the USA back to the roots of urban music.
Barbados superstar, Rihanna leads the pack with a phenomenal comeback. The singer is up for four awards – Artist of the Year, Best R&B Act, Best Female Act and Best Music Video for single ‘Rehab’.
Successful British talent , Amy Winehouse, M.I.A and Estelle dominate the Best Female Act category this year and in the Best Television Show category, it’s a battle between MTV, FOX and BET. With Diddy’s hit show ‘Making the Band’ receiving a nomination followed by Simon Cowell’ s American Idol with FOX and finally BET’s triple entries, 106 & Park, Harlem Heights and Rip the Runway.
Comeback king, Eminem manages to grab a nomination for his comeback single ‘Crack a Bottle’. On hearing of his nomination.
