Pope Benedict held on Sunday a canonization mass for five new saints. Belgium’s King Albert and Queen Paola attended the ceremony in St. Peter’s, as did Polish President Lech Kaczynski, French Prime Minister Francois Fillon and Spain’s Foreign Minister Miguel Angel Moratinos, to celebrate the new saints from their countries.
Pope Benedict XVI canonized Sister Jeanne Jugan, who founded the Little Sisters of the Poor;
Damien de Veuster, a Belgian missionary, member of the Congregation of the Sacred Hearts who worked with lepers;
Archbishop Zygmunt Szczesny Feliński of Warsaw, founder of the Congregation of the Franciscan Sisters of the Family of Mary;
Spanish man Francisco Coll y Guitart founder of Congregation of the Dominican Sisters of the Annunciation of the Blessed
and Priest Rafael Arnaiz Baron.
