iLoop Mobile Nominated Finalist for Best Multi-Channel Mobile Campaign and Michael Becker Finalist for Individual Academic Award
The Mobile Marketing Association (MMA), a global organization leading the way in promoting the development and sustainability of mobile marketing, today announced the finalists for its Fifth Annual Global Mobile Marketing Awards. iLoop Mobile was nominated as finalist for Best Multi-Channel Mobile Campaign (North America) for “The Bouncer” iPhone app, mobile site and SMS marketing components. This campaign was an innovative mobile marketing initiative for best-selling business author Keith McFarland’s new book Bounce. The second finalist nomination named Michael Becker, VP mobile strategies at iLoop Mobile, for the MMA Individual Academic Award recognizing excellence in academic work in mobile marketing. As the MMA’s highest honors, these awards recognize companies and their campaigns for spearheading the adoption of the mobile channel for marketing purposes.
The MMA received hundreds of submissions in 12 categories from companies across the globe. Finalists are selected by the MMA Awards Selection Committee, comprised of global industry leaders from wireless carriers, technology and content providers, agencies and industry publications.
“The finalists for this year’s Global MMA Awards represent the mobile marketing pioneers and thought leaders who continue to shape our industry’s best practices through innovative and increasingly effective campaigns that raise the bar for all stakeholders within the mobile marketing community and beyond,” said Mike Wehrs, president and CEO of the MMA. “As the mobile marketing channel evolves and our awards process grows more competitive each year, we look forward to honoring our industry’s finest leaders and most successful campaigns.”
iLoop Mobile’s mobile campaign for Keith McFarland’s new book Bounce brings the latest mobile marketing capabilities to print publishing marketing. Keith McFarland authored the #1 best-selling book The Breakthrough Company, and his new book Bounce tells the story of a disintegrating company and how its employees came together to create their “bounce”. Just like in past recessions, Bounce relates how people and companies will adapt to the changing environment by creating new products and rethinking old ways of doing things. The iPhone app, available on iTunes, and its companion mobile Internet site at http://bounce.mtiny.mobi, feature user-generated content, social networking and interactive components around the book’s themes. Users can submit Heroes of the Recovery stories about people/companies that are contributing to the “bounce”, lampoon those that are “bouncekills”, send viral “Ounce of Bounce” mobile greeting cards to encourage friends, and explore excerpts from the book and other book related content. The iPhone app also has The Bouncer ball, where shaking the phone makes a magic ball bounce, revealing words of wisdom and inspirational messages that help businesses bounce. A SMS call to action “text BOUNCE to 44624” printed in every copy of the book allows the reader to easily access mobile interactivity via the Bounce mobile site.
Michael Becker’s finalist nomination for the global MMA Individual Academic Award is in recognition of his extensive academic work in growing and disseminating the industry’s body of knowledge in mobile marketing, which he does alongside and in addition to his role at iLoop Mobile. He is a prominent industry leader in helping brands/agencies, companies and other organizations understand the importance of the mobile channel for reaching today’s consumer, and how mobile marketing campaigns are designed and deployed that are both compelling and effective in achieving marketing objectives. Along with educating major brands, agencies and enterprises in mobile marketing, he also conducts seminars and Webinars across the industry and within trade organizations. As an adjunct professor, he teaches classes in mobile marketing at Golden Gate University in San Francisco, and also advises the Direct Marketing Education Foundation on strategies and curriculum for teaching mobile marketing. Michael Becker is also one of the most prolific published academic authors in mobile marketing today. His most recent published works are the mobile marketing sections in the books Reinventing Interactive and Direct Marketing and Social Media for Dummies. Reinventing Interactive and Direct Marketing was compiled by Stan Rapp, co-founder of Rapp Collins Worldwide and a member of Ad Age Magazine’s “101 Individuals Who Shaped Advertising in the 20th Century”. Michael Becker also co-founded and co-edits the seminal global publication The International Journal of Mobile Marketing.
“The MMA Global Awards are the most prestigious recognition of work in the mobile industry, and iLoop Mobile is honored to be a finalist in two important categories,” said Matt Harris, chief executive at iLoop Mobile. “Not only are we excited to be recognized for excellence in our core business of creating and enabling creative and effective mobile marketing campaigns for our customers, but also for the company’s contribution as a thought-leader in the industry in forwarding the understanding of mobile marketing and its use in the market.”
