Running Aces Kicks Off 8th Live Harness Racing Season on Saturday, June 6th
Running Aces Casino & Racetrack is thrilled to welcome Minnesotans back to the track on Saturday, June 6th for its 8th racing season. Opening day and night festivities this year include a live broadcast of the Belmont Stakes in the casino’s brand new Race Book, jumps by Skydive Twin Cities, and an original rendition of the National Anthem by Miss Minnesota 2014.
“I want to personally welcome each and every guest,” says Taro Ito, President and CEO of the North Metro-based casino and racetrack. “As a California native new to Minnesota, I can now fully embrace summer, having been through a Minnesota winter … although I understand this last one wasn’t too terrible,” he adds with a laugh.
In addition to the events outlined above, there will be live music, drink specials, and drawings during and after the races.
Perhaps the most unique aspect of this year’s opening day is that it coincides with the last leg of a potentially momentous Triple Crown. By winning on June 6th, American Pharaoh would become the first Triple Crown victor in nearly four decades. “We have the chance to witness history for the first time since 1978,” says Ito. “What better place to do it than here at Running Aces? The idea that American Pharaoh represents that rare shot at a Triple Crown only makes our opening day experience at Running Aces that much more extraordinary,” he continues. “This race will truly be something special — we hope to witness history together on June 6th!”
Throughout the day fans can be sure they won’t go hungry. Trout Air Tavern, the latest addition at Running Aces, debuted its new menu on May 20th. The restaurant is now serving its specialty fresh trout along with signature dishes that range from an appetizer containing both house cut fries and cheese curds to a fondue-style filet mignon main course.
On June 6th, the Race Book will open at 9:00 a.m. to accommodate early wagers for the 2015 Belmont Stakes. First post is at 9:30 a.m. and the Atrium opens at 12:00 p.m. Running Aces offers year-round simulcast wagering on standard bred, thoroughbred and quarter horse racing, opening daily at 11 a.m.
The 2015 Live Racing Season runs from June 6th through September 12th. Tuesday races start at 7 p.m. and Saturday and Sunday races start at 6 p.m. In July, Wednesdays will be added to the calendar and races will start at 7 p.m.
