I’m excited to announce a new series of Saturday art workshops and weekday classes for the month of May at Palace Art in Capitola. We always have a great time, and you’re invited to join us. Bring a friend! Old Mill in springtime Saturday, May 5, at Palace Art in Capitola (11 am to 6 pm)Picturesque Mabry Mill is one of the most photographed places in the country. In springtime, with the rhododendrons in bloom, it’s an irresistible subject for this special one-day art workshop. Learn about perspective, depth, and the painterly approach, while you create an original work of art.
Sky Big , May 12, at Palace Art in Capitola (11 am to 6 pm)
Explore the color and grandeur of the Big Sky Landscape in this special Paint Along workshop. “Desert Sky,” by the great American Impressionist Edgar Payne, is our subject. It’s a great lesson in dynamic composition and creative brushwork. And you’ll finish the day with a beautiful painting.
Sea BirdsSaturday, May 19, at Palace Art in Capitola (11 am to 6 pm)
California Brown Pelicans have a graceful beauty, matched with the grandeur of the ocean. It’s the perfect subject for a painting. In this special one-day workshop, you’ll learn all about painting basic shapes, proportions, light sources, water and waves. And you’ll create a unique work of art to bring home with you at the end of the day.
Portrait Painting Saturday, May 26, at Palace Art in Capitola (11 am to 6 pm)
“Woman in White,” by the great American painter William Merritt Chase, is an ideal subject for our special Paint Along portraiture workshop. I will guide you with step-by-step instructions and demonstrations. It’s a great introduction to the portrait and a must-attend event!

No prior painting experience is necessary. These workshops are designed for beginners, and for people who love to make art and want to learn more about it. You’ll love it! It’s just $65, including materials, canvas, and paints. Weekday Art ClassesArt is fun! Learn how to paint and have a great time, too. You can choose any subject you like — whatever inspires you.
