Early weekend returns put Megan Fox vehicle in fifth place
Apparently, a bisexual, cannibalistic zombie/demon played by “Transformers” hottie Megan Fox wasn’t enough to lure in moviegoers early this weekend. Despite its pre-release advertising blitz, “Jennifer’s Body” came in fifth in overall box office returns Friday, making an estimated $2.8 million.
The film’s one-day total was paltry compared to Friday’s big winner, animated comedy “Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs,” which rocketed above the pack with an estimated $8.1 million.
Matt Damon comedy “The Informant!” about a corporate whistleblower came in second with about $3.67 million, while poorly reviewed Jennifer Aniston romance “Love Happens” made it to number four with approximately $3.08 million.
“Tyler Perry’s I Can Do Bad All By Myself,” which was in its second week of release, also beat out the brand new “Jennifer’s Body” by coming in in third place with about $3.1 million.
“Jennifer’s Body,” about a high schooler who is sacrificed during a Satanic ritual and comes back to life to wreak her revenge, also features Amanda Seyfried of “Big Love” and “Mamma Mia!” and Adam Brody of “The O.C.”
