Vancouver, BC (rushPRnews) 11/17/10 — Seasoned film and hip hop music producer Rel!g!on (aka Hayden Baptiste) adds another title to his resume with the launch of his record label, Wandering Worx Music. The label is the music division of Wandering Worx Entertainment, also home to an award-winning film production company.
Since its official launch in early October, the label quickly announced the addition of two hip hop veterans to the Wandering Worx Music family – Jasiri X and Planet Asia – with albums scheduled for release in early 2011. The company’s first album release, Rel!g!on’s own Revelationz 1, features the legendary Chuck D, Grammy nominated Planet Asia, west coast favourite Moka Only and more. Wandering Worx Films produced the video for his album’s first single – Lucid – featuring Moka Only and E.D.G.E., now in rotation on Much Music.
“Rel!g!on’s debut on the label has already drawn notable attention to what we hope will be a strong new force in hip hop,” says Wandering Worx Music partner Rodney Davidson. “He’s been practicing his craft and working with some of the biggest names in the industry for a long time now. I’m honoured to work with someone so hardworking and passionate about breathing new life into the music industry.”
An Ottawa, Ontario native, Rel!g!on grew up influenced by his father’s musical talents, including live instruments and vocals, in addition to an extensive record collection, which are all evident in his unique production style. At a young age, he started experimenting with keyboards, organs and a Casio SK 1, and often demonstrated his skills with entertaining tracks for his high school classmates. His years of practice and dedication have resulted in collaborations with big name hip hop artists from Vancouver to New York, and his new record label, Wandering Worx Music, opens the door for more opportunities for creative development.
Combining the best of both worlds, Canada's Wandering Worx Entertainment is producing high quality music and films from some of the best up and coming artists in North America. Based in Vancouver, British Columbia, founders Rodney Davidson and Hayden Baptiste are expanding by the day, recruiting the top producers and musicians, while working with some renowned, impressive directors. By adding their budding music department in 2010, Wandering Worx is ready to take their company to the next level in contemporary entertainment.
Started in 1999, the beginning pair created short films and television demos with director Andrew C. Erin, who worked on Hollywood films such as Confined, Simple Things, and Sam's Lake over the past few years. After a brief hiatus, they reunited in 2003 to win the Canwest Comedy Film Festival, using their success as a springboard to launch into developing their first feature film, Kick Me Down, a powerful drama starring David Richmond-Peck (V, and The Day the Earth Stood Still).
With a relentless work ethic, Wandering Worx is currently in production of a full length science fiction film, tentatively titled The 40 Year Deal, written by Nicholas Treeshin. The company also produced the video for Moka Only's "Lucid," which is currently in rotation on the Much Music network.
The young Wandering Worx Music branch appears anything but, immediately exploding onto the hip hop scene with fiery producer, Rel!g!on's debut record, Revelationz 1. Featuring incredible artists such as Planet Asia, Chuck D, Moka Only, Shyheim, and Theory, the record immediately received critical acclaim from outlets such as Rap Reviews and Exclaim Magazine.
Proving themselves to be a relevant, thought provoking force in the film industry, as well as a quality driven boutique music label, Wandering Worx Entertainment rightfully commands their share of attention.
